Workstation Ergonomic Evaluations

BE

Workstation Ergonomic Evaluations

Ergonomics is the method of helping employees work more efficiently and effectively while reducing musculoskeletal injuries by designing the workstation to conform to their physical and movement needs.

Most Common Areas for evaluation include:

  • Desk height
  • Chair design
  • Location of computer station
  • Layout of workstation
  • Sitting/standing postures of the employee
  • Employee’s movement throughout the workstation
  • Common Musculoskeletal Disorders caused by poor ergonomic environment
  • Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
  • Trigger finger
  • Tendonitis
  • Back/neck pain
  • Hand-arm Vibration Syndrome

Our ergonomics workstation evaluation is performed by our physical therapist or who will assess each employee one-on-one. During the evaluations or physical therapist will:

  • Evaluation the employee’s current workstation setup and their typically physical behaviors
  • Provide recommendations and tips for resolving any ergonomics safety problems
  • Recommend exercises to prevent musculoskeletal injuries

After all employees are evaluated we will provide a report to the employer including:

  • Workstation changes
  • Exercise programs
  • Training and education programs to promote safety and increase productivity
  • Hazardous areas and areas risk.

Corporate Wellness Programs

Hear what a few of our corporate clients have to say about us!

"We first met Don last year when he came on-site to hold a stress reliever exercise session, which was received well by our colleagues.  This past January, Don asked if we were interested to participate in a Team Lean Challenge at no cost to our company.  As part of the Challenge, a nutritionist held consultations with our participants which is covered under the wellness plan with Independence Blue Cross.  We just concluded the Team Lean Challenge and it was a great success!  We had 40 participants which accounts for 30% of our on-site headcount as well as some individuals that were only interested in the nutritionist consultations.  As part of the program, Don visited our offices and laboratory weekly to conduct weekly weigh-in’s and consult with the participants about their exercise activities.  Don is professional, courteous and has a wonderful helpful demeanor—all of this contributed into a very easy wellness program to manage". Collen- DrugScan

"I was just speaking with an account manager in our office this morning who said their client was saying how much they enjoy the newsletter, and the best part is they hear their employees walking around talking about what they read and discussing it with each other.  It’s a good way to be sure people are actually reading it.

Another client had told me how much they enjoy the topics each month, and their favorite part, which you recently added, is the brain teaser. One of the school districts we work with just emailed me the following note yesterday: I share these each month on district wide e-mail!  Get a lot of positive feedback. Another school district sent the following note today: These newsletters are great and the employees really like them!!!!!!!!!

Every client I’ve met with says that they send out the newsletter to their employees every month, which is wonderful!  It seems to grab everyone’s attention". Gallagher Benefits

"Over two challenges I lost over 20 pounds and have gotten stronger and have eaten healthier. The weekly weigh ins keep me on track and both the fitness and nutrition coaches really help tailor a program I can follow. No high energy exercises that are too hard, no need to join a gym, no need to eat foods I don't like and no starving to lose weight. This has helped me make better choices overall and given me a plan I can live with long term".

"I feel so much better and look great in the process!!! This challenge has allowed me to get back to where I wanted to be. I have dropped 2 dress sizes and my health as improved. I have also pushed myself to be more conscious about working out and wait I eat. I feel so much better now that I can get back into my smaller clothes that I had packed away for almost two years. Thank you for all you have done to help me achieve my desired weight goal. Now I have the techniques to keep the weight off".

Eric - Philadelphia, PA

Karena- Philadelphia, PA

Vernon - Egg Harbor Township, NJ

"I lost more weight than I expected given the few changes I made. I basically cut out ice cream and pastries for a month and dropped 10 pounds. Then I went back to old habits (though my portion control at meals was still better than before the challenge) and gained a pound. Then in the last two weeks, I regained my self-control over snacks/desserts and actually did more aerobic exercise than I had been doing, which dropped me another 9 pounds. I hope in the future to be better able to control my sugar cravings, and find a way to work in high intensity exercise into my schedule".

"I lost close to 30 pounds just by eating healthy. I would not have been able to do this without the motivation provided by being in a fitness challenge. I feel much better and look to continue eating healthy, as well as incorporating regular exercise into my life (once the holidays are over). The counseling was especially helpful, not only for providing information, but also for encouragement and accountability."

Great feeling when people are asking you if you lost weight and the positive feedback my fellow co workers were saying about how they could see the difference. Thanks again to Don for all the advice and info that was shared thought out the challenge. Looking forward to the next one".

Physical THerapy Servicies

What is a Physical Therapist and what do they do?

Physical therapist are highly trained, licensed and degreed healthcare professionals that help patients reduce muscle and joint pain; and help to restore mobility, function and range of motion through specific treatment plans. Physical therapist treat all areas and joints of the body including, neck, back, shoulders, knees, hips wrist, ankles and elbows. They also treat the following conditions:

  • Orthopedic and Sports Injuries
  • Gait/Balance Disorders
  • Neck and Back Injuries
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Golf/Tennis Injuries
  • Foot and Ankle Injuries
  • Post surgical care (knee replacements, hip replacements, spinal surgery).

Why should I see a physical therapist?

If you are experiencing muscle and/or joint pain (i.e. back, neck, shoulders, knees, etc.) which affects your quality of life, occupational duties, and recreational activities (i.e. exercise, playing with your kids/grandchildren, etc.) you should see a physical therapist. Most muscle and joint problems will not resolve themselves. While ice and rest may work in the short term, it does not address the cause of the problem. Physical therapist identify the problem, treat it, and education patients on how to prevent or reduce reoccurrences.

Physical therapy may also help to reduce your dependence on pain medication and delay surgery.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit is considered an evaluation. During your evaluation our physical therapist will discuss and review your . . . .

  • Medical history
  • Current muscle and joint problems
  • Pain intensity
  • The impact and affects of your injuries/pain on your activities of daily living, work and recreational activities
  • Goals and expectations

Afterwards our physical therapist will conduct a physical assessment/evaluation which may consist of:

  • Palpation – This is when our physical therapist will touch areas of your body to check for muscular tenderness, soreness, and tightness.
  • Range of Motion (ROM) – Our physical therapist will move your joints in various directions to check for restrictions (i.e. limited range of motion)
  • Test of Strength – Our physical therapist will assess your strength typically by asking you to contract various muscles and muscle groups to determine the quality of those contractions and level of strength.
  • Neurological Screening – Our physical therapist will check to see how the nerves and muscles are communicating to one another by assessing movement reflexes, and your response to pain, touch,  vibration.
  • Plan of Treatment – Once our physical therapist has completed your evaluation he or she will provide you with a report listing your problems and how to treat them. Your treatment plan will also include home exercises, educational material, and frequency of follow-up visits.

How should I come dress for the first evaluation and follow up sessions? Come dress in light clothing if possible. The area/joint being treated should be assessable. So if your shoulder is being treated wear a tank top or t-shirt. If knees, try to wear shorts. under your pants.

Does my health insurance cover physical therapy? We are in-network with most health insurnace plans however most plans we accept are personal choice/PPO plans.

How much is the co-pay? Co-pay cost vary with each health plan. Once you complete our intake form (add link) we will contact your health insurance providers to verify your benefits and copays.

Can you summarize the entire process from start to finish?

  1. Complete our online Physical Therapy Client Intake Forms
  2. We will verify your benefits, the maximum amount of visits, co-pay, and deductible requirements. Within 24-48 hours someone from our office will call you, explain your benefits for physical therapy, financial responsible (i.e. copays and deductibles) and schedule your initial evaluation.
  3. During your initial evaluation our physical therapist will review your medical history; assess your injuries and range of motion; review your goals; and conclude with a treatment plan and suggested follow up visit frequency.

Can you come to my place of employment to treat me? Yes we can. We call this our Onsite Physical Therapy Services.  A partnership is typically established with your employer to coordinate and organized visits directly at your worksite. If you believe your employer is interested in our Onsite Physical Therapy Services please ask them to contact us at (888) 406-8388 or by email info@healthfitnessconnections.com

Virtual physical therapy, also called telemedicine or online physical therapy - is a convenient way to receive physcial therapy. Why virtual physcial therapy is not for every patient it is proving to be an more and more effective option. Vitual phsycial therapy is much like in-person physical therapy. Your physical therapist will still evalaute, treat, provide guidance and create a exercise plan to support your rehab goals.

If you are experiencing muscle and/or joint pain (i.e. back, neck, shoulders, knees, etc.) which affects your quality of life, occupational duties, and recreational activities (i.e. exercise, playing with your kids/grandchildren, etc.) you should see a physical therapist. Virtual physical therpay is not for every patient and condition. Some patients need and desire more of a hands on approach to treatment. But for some others who live in rural areas, have difficults communting, and perfer to experince their therapy in home - virutal physical therapy may be a great option.

Your first visit is considered an evaluation. During your evaluation our physical therapist will discuss and review your . . . .

In general physical therapy, including virtual physical therapy,  is covered by most health insurance plans however it will depend on the type of health plan you have. Some plans are capitated (HMO's), meaning coverage is limited to physical therapy services selected by your employer. While other health insurance plans (PPO/personal choice) allow you to choose your physical therapist.  If you are unsure please complete our health insurance verification form so we can determine your eligibility.

About the challenge

Our 8-Week Healthier U Challenge is designed to help you improve your overall health and well-being. Whether you are looking to lose weight, reduce your blood pressure, eat a little healthier,  exercise more, or just feel better overall, we encourage you to participate in our challenge to take a step closer to a Healthier U!

This is a personal challenge not a group challenge. Meaning you are not competing against anyone but yourself.  Therefore, you should identify what you would like to improve, set your own goals, and work towards achieving them!  However, we encourage you to create a support team for encouragement and accountability.

Key Features:

                   Biometric Screenings and Tracking (optional):

  • At the start and end of the challenge, our wellness specialist will be onsite(at your school) to take your body weight, measure your blood pressure and calculate your body mass index (BMI). Use your initial results as baseline measurements to help track your progress and provide valuable insights into your health throughout the challenge.

                   Fitness Activity & Food Tracking:

  • Track your steps, workouts, calories burned, macro and micro nutrients in your meals and various metrics throughout the challenge using our mobile app. Whether you prefer walking, running, cycling, or yoga, all activities count!

                    Weekly Health Tips:

  • Each week, you'll receive health tips to support your journey. These tips cover topics such as healthy eating, exercise routines and videos, stress management, sleep hygiene, and hydration. The tips are designed to be simple, actionable, and easy to incorporate into your daily routine.

                    Professional Support (optional):

  • Sign up for nutrition counseling and connect with our registered dietitian for nutrition guidance. Nutrition counseling, otherwise known as medical nutrition therapy, is a medical service covered under Neshaminy's School District's IBC health insurance plan (nutrition counseling is also covered under other health insurance plans). You receive six free sessions per plan year. One-on-one sessions are conduct via video chat.  Click here for more information. Partner with our fitness professional to take the guesswork out of your workouts.  Regardless of your fitness level (beginner or advance) a personal trainer can be the accountability you need to get you started; the resource to help you move pass your plateau; or just the person that helps you figure out how exercise can fit into a busy schedule.  Personal training/Fitness Coaching is an out of pocket expense and is delivered in-person and/or virtually. Click here for more information. The first session is FREE!

How It Works:

  • Week 1: Complete your initial biometric screening (optional), set your fitness goals, and receive your first health tips. Begin tracking your physical activity and make small adjustments to your routine. Book your nutrition counseling session and personal training appointment (optional). A few days before the challenge starts all district staff will receive an email from us with instructions on how to download and use our mobile app.
  • Week 2-7: Continue working on your fitness and wellness objectives, monitor your progress through the app, and consider the weekly health tips.
  • Week 8: Complete your final weight measurement/biometric screening and review your progress. Celebrate your achievements, and reflect on the positive changes you've made over the past two months.
